The Bank of London said it entered the market with a $1.1bn valuation in November 2021, making it the first pre-revenue bank in history to attain unicorn status on its debut. Founded by Barclays’ former chief information officer for Europe, Anthony Watson, it is only the second new bank to open in the UK in 250 years. The company describes itself as ‘the world's first purpose-built global clearing, agency and transaction bank’.
